Paris Echoes
Terms & Safety
A few kind words about walking well and giving freely.
First, safety
Paris's streets are shared with cars, buses, bikes, scooters and everyone's little dog. While listening with earphones, stay alert: keep the volume where you can still hear traffic, look up before stepping out, and lift an earphone at crossings. No story is worth missing a red light for — your surroundings always come first.
- Always be mindful of your surroundings — traffic, cyclists, uneven pavements, steps, crowds and pickpockets.
- Never look at your phone while crossing a street or walking near traffic.
- Obey traffic signals, local laws and any signs or barriers. Do not enter private property, closed courtyards or restricted areas.
- Stories may play automatically when you approach a place. Never stop suddenly in the road or follow a story somewhere unsafe.
- Wander only when you are fit and well to do so, and take extra care at night or in bad weather.
Your responsibility
You use Paris Echoes entirely at your own risk. You alone are responsible for your safety, your belongings and your conduct while walking and listening. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Paris Echoes and its creators are not liable for any accident, injury, loss, theft, damage or fine arising from inattention, distraction, or the use of earphones or this website while walking. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
Location & accuracy
Phone GPS can be imprecise, and stories may play early, late or not at all. Information is provided "as is" for entertainment and general interest, without guarantee of completeness or accuracy.
Contributions are gifts
"Buy your companion an espresso" leads to SumUp, where any payment is a purely voluntary gift to support this website. It is not a purchase of a service, it unlocks nothing extra, and there is nothing to cancel. Paris Echoes is free, with no ads and no paywall, and it stays that way.
The stories
Every story is composed originally and points to its sources. We aim for accuracy, but cities keep rewriting themselves — plaques move, buildings change hands, courtyards close. Wander with good sense and verify anything you'd stake a picnic on.
A website, not an app
Paris Echoes runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is installed on your phone, nothing runs in the background, and there are no notifications. When you close the tab, we're simply gone.
